OREGON STATE POLICE STOP LEADS TO SEIZURE OF FENTANYL/METHAMPHETAMINE

Oregon State Police have released more information on a recent seizure of fentanyl and methamphetamine in Douglas County.

An OSP release said on Wednesday, February 26th a K-9 team stopped a car for a traffic violation on Interstate Five northbound near milepost 157, between the Scotts Valley/Elkhead interchange and the Cox Road-Elk Creek exit. During the stop, the trooper recognized signs of possible criminal activity. A consent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of .3 grams of methamphetamine, 2.4 pounds of fentanyl powder and a large amount of U.S. currency.

The driver, 51-year-old Sebastian Melendez Rameriz of Oakland, California was jailed on charges of unlawful possession and delivery of a controlled substance for the fentanyl and possession of a controlled substance for the meth. Melendez Rameriz was detained on $15,000 bail. He was released on Friday.

In 2024, OSP K-9 teams seized more than 1.4 million dosage units of fentanyl. A dosage unit is equal to 1 pill or 0.1 grams of powder.
