Oregon’s U.S Senator Jeff Merkley will hold a live forum for all Oregonians, live on Facebook and YouTube, after President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress Tuesday night.
A release said Merkley is attending the address to send a clear message to President Trump that he fiercely opposes what the senator calls, “the disastrous actions endangering funding for critical programs around the state, harming our economy and workers, and threatening Oregon values”.
Merkley said, “Trump and his sidekick Elon Musk are waging a full-on administrative authoritarian takeover of our country. Trump thinks this week’s joint address to Congress is a pulpit to spout destruction and hate towards Americans”. Merkley said, “I won’t accept it as normal, and I won’t let Trump skate by without opposition”. Merkley said, “Join me after the address to discuss how we move forward together to reinstate government of, by and for the people!”.
The virtual event is open to all Oregonians following the President’s address. While the exact start time depends on the length of the speech, Merkley’s event is expected begin around 7:45 p.m. The virtual forum can be watched live on Senator Merkley’s Facebook and YouTube pages: Senator Jeff Merkley | Facebook, https://www.youtube.com/@SenatorJeffMerkleyYT/streams
