Two people were jailed following a disturbance in Green on Tuesday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:50 p.m. the 38-year-old Roseburg man and 40-year-old Winston woman allegedly got into a verbal altercation which led to the woman throwing hot water on the man’s neck at a residence in the 200 block of River Place Drive. He reportedly then backhanded the woman in the face. It was undetermined if the events occurred specifically in that order due to conflicting stories on the scene.
At first the man would not come outside the house and refused to speak with the deputy. At one point, the man came out of the house, racked his gun, and was pointing it at deputies. Eventually the man went back inside and put the gun away. He then complied with deputies and came outside, where he was detained.
The injuries to both of those involved corresponded with both stories. Each of them advised that their pain was substantial. The man had burn marks on his neck from the hot water and the woman had a gash on the left bridge of her nose and bruising around the left side of her face.
The man said there was a minor in the dining room during the altercation. He said another minor was in the back bedroom during the incident but was asleep.
Due to conflicting stories and the evidence at the scene, both people were taken into custody and charged with fourth-degree felony assault. The man was also charged with menacing. They were both detained without bail.
