UCC HOLDING PRESENTATION ON MANAGING FORESTS FOR HEALTH, FIRE RESISTANCE AND RESILIENCE

The Umpqua Community College Forestry Club, Healthy Forests Advisory Committee is holding a forestry presentation on Tuesday, March 4th.

Dr. James Johnston, the assistant research professor with the University of Oregon’s Institute for Resilient Organizations, Communities and Environments will be the speaker. His presentation is titled, “Managing Oregon’s Forests for Health, Fire Resistance and Resilience”. Johnston’s research involves fire ecology, restoration forestry, environmental policy and collaborative management.

The event is open to the public and will be held in the Danny Lange Conference Center at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 580-2227.
