Roseburg Police jailed a man following a reported DUII incident on Thursday night.
An RPD report said at 8:00 p.m. officers responded to the area of the duck pond in the 1000 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. A transient reported that a man associated with a pickup, walked up to him and admitted to methamphetamine use and was acting strange before driving away in the vehicle.
An officer saw the pickup drive into the parking lot of the nearby Seventh Day Adventist church. The 68-year-old was identified as the driver and showed signs of controlled substance impairment. He allegedly performed standard field sobriety tests poorly and was taken into custody for DUII. The man refused to provide a urine test while at corrections. A search warrant was written and granted, and officers ultimately obtained a blood sample from the man.
The man was charged with DUII-controlled substance, failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage, and for a warrant. He was cited for driving while suspended, failure of a previous violator to file and refusal to take a test for intoxicants.
The man was detained on $22,500 bail.
