One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck on Thursday.

A Roseburg Police report said at 3:10 p.m. officers responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of Northwest Stewart Parkway and Northwest Mercy Drive. An 82-year-old driver said she was heading southbound and in the left turn lane on Stewart Parkway, attempting to pull into the parking lot of a business. The driver stated the traffic signal at the intersection was flashing yellow, and she was fearful that it would turn red before she was able to complete her turn. The woman said she saw a second vehicle driving northbound on Stewart Parkway that was headed towards her. She admitted to miscalculating the amount of time she had to turn, and ultimately pulled in front of the second vehicle, causing the crash.

The second driver was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for injuries. Officers contacted him there a short time later. He confirmed the other driver’s account of the accident.

The driver who caused the accident was cited for making a dangerous left turn. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
