On Wednesday, state representatives Alek Skarlatos of Winston, Virgle Osborne of Roseburg, Ed Diehl of Stayton, and Darin Harbick of Rainbow issued a statement regarding what they claim is the Democratic party’s resistance to the enforcement of responsible immigration.
The lawmakers said, “We are deeply disappointed by out-of-touch views of today’s Democrat Party that labels the majority of Americans as extremist for supporting the enforcement of immigration laws against violent illegal aliens. Securing our borders and upholding the rule of law to hold criminals accountable is not extreme – its simple common sense”.
The statement from the representatives continued saying, “For the first time in decades more Americans identify as Republicans rather than Democrats. That is no coincidence. The Democratic Party has abandoned responsible immigration policy and lost touch with the concerns of hardworking Americans across our state and our nation”.
Their statement concluded: “It’s time for our Democrat friends to recognize that enforcing immigration laws isn’t about partisanship – it’s about the protection and security of our communities – including law abiding immigrant communities”.
