Celebration of Literacy has announced the One County, One Book award winners for 2025.
The program was developed during the pandemic for middle school students. A book is selected that fits their age group. This year it was “Daughter of the Deep” by Rick Riordan. Students interested in participating register at their school or community library. After reading the book, they submit some kind of critique.
Three prizes were given this year. First place of $100 went to Scarlett Anderson of Joseph Lane. The second-place award of $50 was given to Easton Smith of Glendale. Third place, $25, was a team effort by Oakland students Thomas Reece, Michelle Beach and Brylon Hammer.
Celebration of Literacy is presented by the Altrusa Club of Roseburg, and the Umpqua Reading Council. Get more information at: http://www.celebrationofliteracy.com/
