February 19, 2025 5:20 a.m.

A house in Winston suffered significant damage in an early morning fire on Wednesday.

Battalion Chief Mitch Doss of Central Douglas Fire & Rescue said just before 1:25 a.m. crews were dispatched to the structure fire on Twin Oaks Loop. Doss said initial reports indicated that the structure was on fire with flames coming from the back corner of the house.

Doss said thanks to the efficient response of firefighters, the fire was stopped from spreading and remained contained to the single structure. Both occupants of the residence and their pets were able to get out of the house safely. No injuries were reported by the residents or the firefighters working on the scene.

CDF&R responded to the incident with three fire engines and one command unit, totaling 9 personnel. The occupants of the home are in contact with the American Red Cross to develop a plan for them and their animals.
