The Oregon State University Extension Service has its Buzz Academy – Beekeeping 101 workshop happening on Saturday.

An extension release said the event is tailored for aspiring beekeepers. For those who already have a few hives or are just beginning to explore the idea of beekeeping, the class is designed to provide attendees with the foundational knowledge needed.

The workshop will cover:

*Selecting the ideal hive

*Sourcing bees

*Essential equipment

*Legal aspects of selling honey

The workshop will offer a comprehensive overview of beekeeping, combining theoretical knowledge with practical insights.

The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Douglas County Extension Office on Southeast Douglas Avenue, next to the courthouse. Registration is $25.
