A transient was jailed after a pursuit incident on Tuesday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 7:55 p.m. while a deputy was driving behind a vehicle near the intersection of Canyonville-Riddle Road and Carter Avenue in the Riddle area, for seemingly no reason, it accelerated at a high rate of speed.

A pursuit was quickly initiated and continued at speeds between 65-90 miles per hour until Dry Creek Canyon Road. The 50-year-old driver turned onto Dry Creek Canyon Road and continued for a quarter mile before bringing the vehicle to a stop near a dead end. The driver was reportedly non-compliant with commands for several minutes before stepping out and being detained without incident.

The driver said he eluded because he was mad and tired of getting pulled over. The man was charged with attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle and for reckless driving. He was detained without bail.
