One person was jailed and two were cited for prohibited camping on Tuesday morning.

A Roseburg Police report said at 11:20 a.m. three men were contacted near the intersection of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard and Northeast Stephens Street. The men had their camps set up on the old train trestle which is now a walking path. The trestle spans over Deer Creek, which flows into the South Umpqua River about 100 yards away. All three camps violated the time and place portions of the camping ordinance.

The third man’s camp also violated the manner portion of the ordinance. His camp was described as a sprawling mess with trash and debris covering an area 20 feet long. He was charged with a criminal count of prohibited camping and for depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway. Bail was set at $6,250.

The other two men were released after being cited.
