One person was cited after a two-vehicle accident led to a vehicle fire in Green on Tuesday evening.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 5:30 p.m. a sedan driven by a Winston woman was attempting a left turn from Roberts Creek Road onto Tannhauser Avenue. She didn’t see a second sedan, driven by a Roseburg man, which was traveling northbound.
The woman kept turning left, entering the other vehicle’s lane of travel. The second driver attempted to avoid a collision by swerving right towards Tannhauser but was unsuccessful and his sedan struck the first one. There was minor damage to the passenger side headlight of the first vehicle and the driver side headlight of the second vehicle. Both parties went outside to swap information when the first vehicle caught fire. The sedan became fully involved and the fire department extinguished the fire.
The woman arranged for her vehicle to be towed. She was cited for making a dangerous left turn. The second driver went to an urgent care clinic to be evaluated due to lower back pain.
