Sutherlin Police jailed a man following an alleged burglary and assault early Monday.
An SPD report said just before 12:30 a.m. 53-year-old Eric Ash went to the residence of a person he was previously in a relationship with in the 200 block of Eagle Court to confront a separate person. Ash reportedly knocked on the door and when it was partially opened, he was told not to come in.
Ash allegedly pushed his way inside and went back to the bedroom where two people were asleep. He reportedly jumped on top of the victim and punched him several times, causing physical injuries. The assault was broken up after a couple of minutes and Ash was escorted from the home. He drove away when officers arrived and went to a residence in the 300 block of Easy Street, where he had been staying. Ash allegedly refused to come out for several minutes but eventually came to the door and was detained without incident.
He was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree disorderly conduct and fourth-degree assault. Ash was detained on $7,000 bail.
