Roseburg Police jailed a man following multiple DUII crashes early Tuesday.
An RPD report said at approximately 3:10 a.m. officers responded after a caller said there had been a hit and run in the 300 block of Southeast Lane Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located an unoccupied SUV with heavy front-end damage. 71-year-old David Tollefson was located a short distance away. Officers noticed signs of impairment. Tollefson consented to standard field sobriety tests and reportedly performed poorly.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Tollefson’s vehicle had hit three other vehicles, and a telephone pole, before leaving both accident scenes. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to corrections. A search warrant was applied for and granted, and a legal blood draw was conducted at CHI Mercy Medical Center. During the arrest, Tollefson was allegedly found to be in possession of just under 77 grams of methamphetamine.
He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, four counts of failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage, reckless driving, a felony count of unlawful possession of meth, unlawful delivery of meth, refusal to take tests, and driving while suspended-violation. Tollefson was cited for driving uninsured and detained without bail.
