A Dillard man was jailed on the charge of unlawful use of mace on Monday morning.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 9:00 a.m. while a deputy was on the phone with an individual about a disturbance that had happened the night before, another person was heard screaming to call 911 because someone had been maced. The phone line went dead at that time.
Deputies responded and learned that there had been issues between a 63-year-old man and a victim because they don’t like him being transient near their house in the 100 block of Cobb Street, even though he has permission to be there. The man was allegedly making threats to the victim about killing her son in the area. She asked him about it and then he reportedly pepper-sprayed her.
A deputy reviewed a video which showed the victim and the suspect talking in the street, posing no threat nor posturing as if she was going to fight, when she got sprayed.
The man was detained without bail.
