February 5, 2025 10:00 a.m.

Douglas County Search and Rescue was activated for a man that reportedly broke his leg while snowmobiling at Mt. Bailey on Tuesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said the incident was called in just after 1:00 p.m. The caller said he told his friend to hang up and call 911. Shortly after 4:30 p.m. the caller said he contacted the injured man again to see if he had called 911. The man said he had not.

SAR was activated. Diamond Lake Resort sent first responders to check parking lots for the injured man’s vehicle. Searchers did not have a solid location for the vehicle. A deputy called the reporting party, who had bad cell service. He was not in the same vehicle as the man with the broken leg. The injured man did not have a compound fracture and was splinted. The reporting party said he believed the injured man would be taken to a Medford hospital.

No further information was reported by DCSO.
