Myrtle Creek Police jailed a man Wednesday for an alleged prior theft, trespass, and motor vehicle incident.

An MCPD report said on January 27th surveillance allegedly showed a man wearing a light-colored baseball camp, dark coat and light jeans with a light-colored dog walk up to a chipper at a business in the 500 block of Hurst Avenue with a gas can in his hands. Footage showed the male around the truck for about 7 minutes while he was allegedly siphoning gas.

When an officer arrived, the man was gone. A red plastic gas can was left at the scene by the truck, filled with gas. 45-year-old Jacob Allen was developed as the suspect. He was taken into custody early Wednesday.

Allen was charged with unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, and second-degree counts of theft and criminal trespass. He was detained on $7,500 bail.
