A juvenile was hurt in a weather-related accident on Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 12:40 p.m. a Camas Valley woman was driving south on Reston Road around the curves near Highway 42. The road was reported to be icy and the driver lost control of her minivan while traveling at approximately 40 miles per hour.

The vehicle was headed off the road towards the creek, so the woman turned the wheel in the opposition direction into the bank on the side of the road. A juvenile hit his forehead on the metal part of the headrest in front of him, causing a large gash that would possibly need stitches.

The driver transported the child to an urgent care facility. None of the other 4 juvenile passengers were injured. The driver was cited for driving uninsured.
