A two-vehicle crash on Sunday sent 3 people to the hospital.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said shortly before 12:45 p.m. dispatchers received a call about the wreck in the 900 block of Elgarose Road, northwest of Roseburg.

Undersheriff Brad O’Dell said deputies and emergency crews arrived to find a pickup, which had been operated by 36-year-old Casey Slater of Winston, off the roadway on its side and into a tree. O’Dell said deputies determined that Slater had been traveling southbound on Elgarose Road when a pickup operated by 82-year-old Gary Reeser, made a left-hand turn into the path of Slater’s vehicle. Reeser’s vehicle was found off the east side of the roadway.

O’Dell said Slater had to be extricated from his vehicle by Central Douglas Fire & Rescue personnel. Slater, a juvenile passenger and Reeser were all transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. They were each transferred to out-of-area hospitals for further treatment. Slater is listed in serious condition at last check at Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, according to a hospital spokesperson.

O’Dell said deputies are continuing their investigation into the accident. Anyone with information is asked to contact DCSO at 440-4471.
DCSO was assisted by the Oregon State Police, CDF&R, and Umpqua Valley Ambulance.
