The Douglas County Museum of Natural and Cultural History has again been recognized as one of the Top 100 Best Fan-Favorite Destinations in Oregon.
A county release said the museum was notified by MEDIAmerica this month that they placed 20th on the list this year. There are nearly 9,000 destinations in Oregon that are reviewed each year for these awards. The county museum has consistently placed in the top 20 in this category for nearly a decade. The 2025 winners were chosen based on the number of four and five-star reviews received during 2024.
MEDIAmerica publishes Oregon Business Magazine and the well-known 100 best companies to work for in Oregon survey. A complete list of winners and an official map marking the winners will be available in late March.
Commissioner Tom Kress said, “I continue to remind both citizens and visitors that the Douglas County Museum of a true local gem, will worth a visit and exploration”. Kress said, “This award is a testament to the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and foundation members who tirelessly work to create a captivating and unique experience for everyone who comes through our doors”. Kress said staff is excited about the increased visibility this award will bring to Douglas County and, “…for the chance to tell our story”.
The Douglas County Museum of Natural and Cultural History is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free to members, $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and veterans, and $2 for students ages 5 to 17.
