Sutherlin Police jailed a man early Sunday following an alleged assault incident.

An SPD report said officers had received information earlier in the day involving the 29-year-old and a victim, from an incident that allegedly took place in the 900 block of West Second Avenue. After the victim did not arrive at work, and after speaking to multiple witnesses, a welfare check was conducted. The victim was reportedly found to have marks and injuries from the incident.

The suspect claimed the victim had bounced off him and hit her head on something, but he was unsure what. The injuries did not match, and the man was taken into custody. He was reportedly also found to have metal knuckles concealed on his person.

The man was charged with fourth-degree felony assault and for carrying concealed weapons. He was detained without bail.
