WORKSHOP FOR PEOPLE INTERESTED IN BEEKEEPING

The Oregon State University Extension Service and Umpqua Valley Beekeepers are having an event for community members interested in becoming beekeepers.

Extension and Umpqua Valley Beekeepers Association will hold the Buzz Academy workshop on Saturday February 22nd. It will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the extension office on Southeast Douglas Avenue, just east of the courthouse in Roseburg.

The event is tailored for aspiring beekeepers, whether they already have a few hives or are just beginning to explore the idea of beekeeping.
Workshop highlights will include:
*Selecting the Ideal Hive: Learn how to choose the right hive for what is needed
*Sourcing Bees: Understand the best practices for acquiring bees.
*Essential equipment: Get acquainted with the necessary tools for successful beekeeping
*Honeybee Biology and Lifecycle: Gain insights into the biology and lifecycle of honeybees
*Legal aspects of selling honey: Learn the regulations and best practices for selling honey safely and legally.

The workshop will cost $30, and registration is required by February 21st. Space is limited.
