The Douglas County Human Trafficking Task Force will have a special community event in Myrtle Creek next week as part of Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
A presentation titled Teens, Trafficking & Online Predators will feature Myrtle Creek Police Detective Kevin Taggart and other members of the task force. It will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Coffenberry Middle School on Rice Street.
Violence Prevention Program Manager Marion Pearson said 1 in 3 minors report having sexual interactions with someone they didn’t know one line. Pearson said more that half of minors report having a potentially harmful online experience.
Attendees will learn about:
*The grooming process
*Red flags & indicators
*Risk Factors
*Local information and case studies
The event is free. Parental discretion is advised for children ages 12 and under due to the sensitive topic.
