The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team has made one of the largest cocaine seizures in memory.

DINT Commander Lieutenant Rick McArthur said on Friday detectives brought to conclusion an ongoing trafficking investigation. McArthur said at approximately 4:00 p.m. detectives, with help from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant in the 2800 block of Coos Bay Wagon Road in Lookingglass.

Multiple persons were detained during execution of the search warrant. During a search of the residence detectives reportedly found substantial amounts of evidence to include: Approximately 5.2 pounds of suspected cocaine, almost one pound of psilocybin mushrooms, scales and packaging materials used to weigh and package substances, several firearms, bulk cash and other evidence.

McArthur said 43-year-old Ronnie Romo of Lookingglass was arrested and lodged in the Douglas County Jail on charges of unlawful possession, delivery and manufacture of cocaine, as well as unlawful possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the psilocybin. Romo was detained without bail and was released on Monday.

McArthur said cocaine seizures are up significantly throughout the pacific northwest in recent months, and Douglas County is not immune from the trend.
