HUNDREDS STILL WITHOUT POWER AS STORM DAMAGE CLEANUP CONTINUES

Hundreds of Douglas County residents are still without power as of early Friday, as storm damage clean up continues.

Pacific Power is showing approximately 350 meters without power. The utility said it is working to restore power to areas impacted by the windstorm, which took place early Thursday. Times for restoration vary depending on the situation.

Douglas Electric Cooperative shows approximately 380 meters without power. A statement on the utility’s website said there are 28 individual outages ranging in size from a single member to the largest outage of 100 or so in the Melrose area.

At the peak of the storm, several thousand meters were without power.

With lots of rain expected through the weekend, its possible other power outages may take place, due to rain soaked trees and infrastructure, which sometimes gives way after long periods of wind and moisture.
