A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 10:00 a.m. Friday for mountain areas in much of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of between 12 to 20 inches, with up to 30 inches near Crater Lake. Winds will gust as high as 70 miles per hour.
The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. It applies to Crater Lake National Park and highways 62 and 138 and Highway 51 at Willamette Pass.
Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.
