SUTHERLIN FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO SHED FIRE

Crews with the Sutherlin Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Division Chief Brandan McGarr said at approximately 12:55 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to the fire in the 900 block of Buttercup Lane. McGarr said a fire engine arrived a few minutes later and crews found the fire in a small shed. The fire was knocked down moments later. Firefighters overhauled the structure as well checking for fire extension in a nearby secondary structure. McGarr said one dog perished in the fire.

SFD responded with one fire engine, one water tender, two brush rigs and a eight firefighters. Fair Oaks Fire District, Central Douglas Fire and Rescue, Oakland Fire District, and Umpqua Valley Ambulance provided automatic aid for the fire.

McGarr said no firefighters or civilians were injured during the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
