Roseburg Police jailed a man following a reported theft incident on Tuesday afternoon.

An RPD report said at 4:00 p.m. officers contacted the 35-year-old at Gaddis Park in the 800 block of Northeast Highland Street. He matched the description of a suspect allegedly involved in a recent theft that had been reported at Harbor Freight in the 1300 block of Northeast Stephens Street. The man had a Harbor Freight basket full of merchandise with him. He admitted to stealing the items a short time before. The man was taken into custody.

During a search, officers reportedly found a firearm concealed in the suspect’s backpack. He was charged with second-degree theft and unlawful possession of a firearm. The man was detained on $12,500 bail.
