Roseburg Police jailed a man following a reported DUII incident early Saturday morning.
An RPD report said at 2:40 a.m. a victim reported that a dark colored sedan had driven head on at his vehicle while he was driving near the intersection of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard and Northeast Sunshine Road. The victim reported he swerved to miss the oncoming vehicle, with that vehicle hitting the rear driver side of his vehicle, causing it to slide out of control. The victim said the second vehicle continued driving westbound after the accident.
Officers were dispatched to the victim’s location. While in route, an officer’s patrol vehicle was almost struck head on by a vehicle matching the description given by the victim. Officers stopped the suspect vehicle and contacted the driver, a 41-year-old Roseburg man. Officers observed signs of impairment, and the driver agreed to perform standard field sobriety tests. The driver, identified as Jonathan Humphries, reportedly performed poorly. He was taken into custody without incident.
Humphries was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and failure to perform the duties of a driver when property is damaged. He was jailed on $22,500 bail.
