The Salvation Army of Roseburg is showing a dip of 20 percent in donations in Oregon, with less than one week to go for the organization’s red kettle fundraising efforts.
Captain Edith Dye-Mabie said the Salvation Army credits the decrease in donations to the Thanksgiving holiday date this year – five days later than last year. Dye-Mabie said this year, the local Salvation Army seeks to raise $82,000 to meet the growing demand for essential services in Douglas County.
A release said every year, the Salvation Army of Roseburg provides a variety of services to local residents. The holiday season can be especially difficult for many and donations are crucial to ensuring the no one is left behind during this time of year.
Captain Richard Mabie said, “The holiday season brings unique challenges for many in our community, but it also brings out the generosity of those who can help”. Mabie said, “Every donation, no matter the size, is a step toward lifting someone out of hardship. Your support helps bring hope and stability to those who need it most – not just during Christmas but also throughout the year”.
