A sedan and two commercial motor vehicles were involved in an accident Monday night on Interstate 5 in north county.

An Oregon State Police report said at 10:00 p.m. the sedan was headed northbound near the Salt Springs Road exit. The vehicle suffered a mechanical failure causing it to spin uncontrolled. The sedan came to a rest facing southbound in the northbound lane.

It was hit by a northbound commercial motor vehicle, which was then rear-ended by a second commercial motor vehicle. All occupants in the sedan were transported to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield.

A tow company removed the sedan from the roadway.
