A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a rear-end accident on Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:20 p.m. a motorist was heading southbound on Old Highway 99 North on the Winchester Bridge when she came up on a man operating his motorcycle in the roadway. The first driver said there were no lights on the motorcycle, and she couldn’t see it in time.

The SUV driver was unable to stop in time and her vehicle crashed into the back of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a 32-year-old man, admitted that his lights were not working. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for back pain.

The motorcyclist was cited for having no operators license, no insurance and defective lighting.
