A Dillard man was jailed following a reported robbery incident on Saturday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 3:15 p.m. a victim claimed that she had been hit in the face and body multiple times by 48-year-old Kip McCoy, while they were in her car near the intersection of Coon Hollow Bridge and the 200 block of Church Street in Dillard.

The victim said that McCoy had tried to take her purse and after she grabbed her purse back from his hands, the man reportedly punched her again and grabbed her cigarettes out of her purse. The victim said she told McCoy to get out of her vehicle. He left her car and allegedly broke her fishing pole while exiting the vehicle. The value of the cigarettes and fishing pole combined was approximately $55.

A deputy contacted McCoy. His story was consistent with the victim’s aside from him hitting her and stealing her cigarette’s. The man reportedly admitted to “throwing a tantrum” and breaking the fishing pole.

McCoy was charged with third-degree counts of robbery and theft, second-degree criminal mischief and harassment. He was detained without bail.
