CITY OF ROSEBURG SEEKING MEMBERRS FOR PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION

December 9, 2024 3:20 a.m.

The City of Roseburg is seeking members for the Public Works Commission.

A city release said the commission has two vacancies. It serves in an advisory capacity to the city council.

People normally appointed to these volunteer positions serve a three-year term unless they are serving the remainder of a term. One volunteer appointed to the Public Works Commission will finish a term that expires at the end of 2025. The other will serve a three-year term that expires at the end of 2027.

The positions remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed weekly as received.

One opening can be filled by someone who lives in the city limits, while the other vacancy can be filled by someone who lives in Roseburg’s urban services boundary, but outside the city limits.

The Public Works Commission meets at 3:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month to provide long-range planning and strategies for financing of capital improvements including sidewalks, lighting and storm drainage, and to consider rules governing operations of the water system and its rate structure.

Online applications can be found on the city’s “Commissions” webpage: https://www.cityofroseburg.org/you-government/commissions. Residents can also request applications at: info@roseburgor.gov. In addition, applications are available by visiting the administration department at city hall on Southeast Douglas Avenue.

The commission chair will recommend candidates to the mayor and city council.
