TSUNAMI WARNING IN EFFECT FOR COASTAL AREAS

As of 10:50 a.m. Thursday a Tsunami Warning is in effect for coastal areas between Davenport, California and the Douglas/Lane County line in Oregon, which is located 10 miles southwest of Florence.

The National Weather Service said people located in this coastal area should move inland to higher ground. Tsunami warnings mean that a tsunami with significant inundation is possible. Tsunamis are a series of dangerous waves many hours after initial arrival time. The first wave may not be the largest.

At 10:44 a.m. an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 occurred 45 miles southwest of Eureka, California.
