A Tsunami Warning for coastal areas between Davenport, California and the Douglas/Lane County line in Oregon that was issued at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, was canceled at approximately 12:00 p.m.

Residents in coastal area had been asked to move to higher ground, when the warning was issued.

The warning followed an earthquake that occurred 45 miles southwest of Eureka, California, just before 10:45 a.m.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was on Thursday’s Noon Report on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN to talk about the response of the county’s emergency management staff and sheriff’s deputies to the situation. That interview is a special KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com
