Sutherlin Police jailed a man for a reported DUII/reckless driving incident on November 27th.

An SPD report released Wednesday said the 40-year-old was allegedly following another vehicle due to a prior road rage incident. As he followed the other vehicle through Sutherlin, the second driver was instructed to drive to the Sutherlin Police Department.

Once the second driver arrived, officers were standing outside waiting for the first vehicle. After being directed by officers to stop, the suspect allegedly swerved around the second vehicle and past officers, heading down Umpqua Street. The man took a left on East Second Avenue. He was located by another officer on North State Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection with East 5th Avenue.

The man denied the officers and he was assisted out of his vehicle. A fight reportedly ensued. After being medically cleared, the suspect was transported to corrections. He was charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence of an intoxicant, and resisting arrest. The man was detained without bail. He was released on Saturday.
