An Air Stagnation Advisory has been extended through Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for parts of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a ridge of high pressure will lead to a strong inversion and stagnant air conditions near the surface that will continue to trap pollutants. This could worsen air quality over time.
The Advisory area applies to valley locations across the region including the Umpqua, Illinois, Applegate, and Rogue valleys. That includes the cities of Roseburg, Grants Pass, Cave Junction, Medford and surrounding areas.
Forecasters said poor air quality may cause issues for people with respiratory problems. Those with respiratory illness should follow their physician’s advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.
