AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH 4:00 P.M. WEDNESDAY

December 2, 2024 3:50 a.m.

An Air Stagnation Advisory remains in effect until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday for parts of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a ridge of high pressure will lead to a strong inversion and stagnant air conditions near the surface that will continue to trap pollutants. This could worsen air quality over time.

The Advisory area includes valleys west of the Cascades, and applies to the Umpqua, Illinois, Applegate, and Rogue valleys.

Forecasters said poor air quality may cause issues for people with respiratory problems. Persons with respiratory illness should follow their physician’s advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution during periods of stagnant air.
