TWO ACCIDENTS LEAD TO CLOGGED TRAFFIC ON SOUTHBOUND INTERSTATE FIVE

Two accidents led to clogged traffic on southbound Interstate 5 in the Roseburg area on Monday afternoon.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 4:30 p.m. an SUV was traveling in slowed traffic between the fairgrounds exit and the landfill interchange when the driver was unable to stop in time. His vehicle struck the rear of compact sedan. Both vehicles had minimal damage. The occupants possibly had minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

At about 5:30 p.m. a sedan was headed southbound near the West Harvard Avenue interchange. The driver was unable stop in time for slowed traffic. Her vehicle struck a second sedan, causing damage to both vehicles. The driver of the first vehicle was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The first vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
