November 25, 2024 10:40 a.m.

Roseburg Police jailed a man and cited a woman for an alleged menacing incident on Friday.

An RPD report said at 5:20 p.m. three juveniles pounded on the front door of a residence in the 1200 block of Northeast Alameda Avenue, with the intention of “”ding, dong ditching”. A woman came to the front door and stepped out with a firearm in her hand, waving it as she yelled something similar to, “it’s loaded, and I’ll shoot”.

A man stepped out of the home with a firearm as well. He reportedly followed the juveniles in the street and caught up with two of them. The man allegedly had the firearm in his hand and reportedly made statements that he would kill someone for beating on his door like that and to tell the juvenile who knocked on the door to never do it again unless he wanted to get shot in the face. One of the juveniles took a video showing the man holding the firearm in his hand as he walked with the juveniles.

The man admitted to following the juveniles and having the firearm in his hand but denied making any threats. During the initial conversation with an officer, the man allegedly admitted to having the firearm on him, concealed in his pants pocket. The suspect admitted that he did not have a concealed handgun license.

Officers learned that the woman also walked around the neighborhood looking for the juveniles and had had her firearm concealed in her pocket.

The man was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and menacing. He was detained on $12,500 bail. The woman was cited for unlawful possession of a firearm and was released.
