ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE

Roseburg Police jailed a man on the charge of possession of a stolen vehicle on Monday night.

An RPD report said at 11:30 p.m. officers got a call about a man attempting to trade chocolate for fuel at Fred Meyer Gas in the 300 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. The man was in a vehicle marked as Washington Department of Transportation on the side. The suspect left the area but was found nearby.

The vehicle returned as stolen out of Washington State. The man claimed he was an employee of the Washington Department of Transportation. An officer contacted the reporting party by phone. He did not recognize the suspect by name and knew that he was not an employee.

The 37-year-old from Reno, Nevada was taken into custody. He was released on Tuesday.
