The Umpqua Community Action Network will have its final volunteer training opportunity Thursday for those interested in helping when a Warming Center is open during the winter at St. Joseph’s Church.
A UCAN release said the shelter will have limited days of operation, only opening when the low temperature is 30 degrees or colder, or if the weather is inclement and nighttime lows are 32 degrees or colder. UCAN will offer beds to those seeking shelter and will provide a hot meal to those staying overnight.
Volunteers can help offer meals, support check-in procedures, provide company to those seeking shelter and perform other tasks.
The orientation will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will last for approximately 90 minutes. It will be held at UCAN’s Garden Valley Service Center at 251 Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard in Roseburg. Those interested can contact UCAN at: volunteer@ucancap.org
