November 18, 2024 3:30 a.m.

Winston City Council will consider a salary increase proposal for their public works superintendent and finance director, as part of their meeting Monday night.

A staff report prepared by City Manager Thomas McIntosh said the city is currently performing a salary study for the public works department. McIntosh said when evaluating the current compensation situation, it has been determined that the publics works superintendent and finance director are below their averages. Staff are recommending allocating some funding towards salary increases. Councilors will vote on a resolution which proposes increasing the public works superintendent’s salary by 6 percent and the finance director’s salary by 4 percent.

Councilors will also interview two applicants for an open city council position. Edward Frankenstein and Nicholas Wiggins have both applied for the Ward II seat recently vacated by Alesha Anderson, who will be moving out of the area. The term expires at the end of 2026.

Other items are on the agenda as well. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall on Northwest Douglas Boulevard.
