A new light display featuring the Umpqua River Lighthouse is being added to the Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights for its 32nd season.
A release said the popular annual holiday drive-through event opens Sunday, November 24th at River Forks Park.
Festival of Lights Chair Tabitha Layman said designers and fabricators at Con-Vey crafted a 20-foot rendition of the Umpqua River Lighthouse, dedicating nearly 100 hours to bring this community project to life. Layman said using one quarter inch to one half inch round bar, crews carefully heated and shaped the metal to create a detailed lighthouse silhouette, giving it a true-to-life 3D appearance. Covered in expanded metal and topped with a spinning light, the structure captures the iconic presence of the lighthouse.
Con-Vey CEO Dave Larecy said, “We’re thrilled to support the Festival of Lights with this new lighthouse display”. Larecy said, “It’s a meaningful project for us – knowing that our families and the community will enjoy it for years to come. This is one way we can give back to the Roseburg area, and we’re grateful to partner with the Roseburg Rotary to make this holiday tradition even brighter.”
A group of Rotarians will be assisting the Festival of Lights field crew tip the largest displays into place this Saturday at River Forks Park, starting at 10:00 a.m. The Umpqua River Lighthouse display will be put into place at approximately 11:00 a.m.
The 32nd season of the Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights will showcase over 500,000 lights and 90 displays. Tickets are now available for purchase at www.uvfestivaloflights.com
