Sutherlin Police jailed a man for a prior theft and cited him for drug charges on Thursday.

An SPD report said on Tuesday the 18-year-old allegedly took a phone from a victim in the 1000 block of West Central Avenue. The phone was eventually located and returned to the victim.

Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. while taking the suspect into custody near the intersection of Taylor Street and Hastings Avenue, an officer reportedly located a meth pipe, residue bag, and 1.4 grams of methamphetamine. The man was charged with second-degree theft and detained on $6,250 bail.
