SOUTHEAST STEPHENS STREET WATER MAIN PROJECT UNDERWAY

November 15, 2024 3:05 a.m.

A water main replacement project on Southeast Stephens Street in Roseburg is underway, leading to a daytime closure that could impact traffic heading into downtown.

A City of Roseburg release said portions of one northbound lane on Stephens Street will be closed from Southeast Sykes Street to Southeast Oak Avenue Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the next six months. One lane will always remain open.

The project will replace about 2,700 linear feet of 6-inch cast iron water transmission pipe in Stephens Street with 12-inch ductile iron. Acting Public Works Director Ryan Herinckx said the existing pipe was installed between 1928 and 1935.

Herinckx said, “The reason this project’s happening now is we plan to resurface the road in the summer of 26”.

Roseburg Public Works has contracted with Cradar Enterprises of Roseburg to undertake the project.
