Sutherlin Police jailed a man for a warrant following a traffic stop early Wednesday.

An SPD report said just after 3:00 a.m. an officer observed the 41-year-old near the intersection of East Fourth Avenue and Mardonna Way. The officer knew the man had a suspended driving status in Oregon and learned he had an outstanding warrant.

While taking the man into custody, the officer reportedly discovered a pipe, foil and bindle baggy inside the man’s pickets containing residue and/or user amounts testing positive for methamphetamine and likely fentanyl.

The man was detained without bail for the warrant. He was released later in the morning. He received citations for the drug charges and violations.
