A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 10:00 a.m. Tuesday above 5,000 feet for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said snow is expected above 5,000 feet. Total snow accumulations between 8 and 16 inches are forecast. Winds gusting as high as 50 miles per hour.
The Advisory area includes the Southern Oregon Cascades, mainly north of Highway 140. It applies to Crater Lake and highways 62, 230, 138 and 58.
Forecasters said travel could be very difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Snowfall rates Monday morning could reach 1 inch per hour between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. causing low visibility and hazardous driving conditions.
